The Dropsteppers made a big splash with their first album « Get Up In It! « …

THE DROPSTEPPERS

The Dropstepperscome from Minneapolis, a city of the state of Minnesota in Midwest USA. Formed as recently as 2010, the group composed of six members all come from the local scene in various other projects, conducted masterfully by the talented Tom McDowall on vocals and guitar, Albert Perez Jr. on guitar, Paul Perez on percussions / vocals, Chris Gray on drums / vocals, Doug Otto on the organ / piano / vocals and Eric Struve on bass. For the ones who are lucky enough to be in the area, the release of their debut album « Get Up In It » distributed by Megalith Records, will be celebrated at a party in their stronghold at the Nomad World Pub on October 21th. For others, no worries, a tour is planned here, in Europe of next year …

About their distro, remember that Megalith Records was created by Rob Bucket Hingley, the singer-guitarist founder of the legendary Toasters!
Let’s talk about their music now …

In their Space

From the first notes, we clearly feel influences of early reggae sprinkled with a touch of rocksteady and a touch of classic American soul. As and when listening to their album, you realize that passes easily with great pleasure of the melancholy of lyrics, sad for some, but no less filled with hope. There are also a lot of tracks with more cheerful and upbeat music that could get you moving or singing for even the most recalcitrant of the spectators …
The album was recorded at Studio Audio & Shock (Minneapolis) by Andrew Zoellner, produced by Tom McDowall and The Dropsteppers and co-produced by Aaron Porter (member of another band equally talented, The Prizefighters). All songs were mixed by Paul Flynn. The album was mastered by Michael Fossenkemper of the Turtletone Mastering in New York, NY.

Quite simply, a marvel to listen, if you do not know, do as the title of the album recommends. This group should be discovered urgently and promises great things for the future.
